Nurse Unit Manager
Mental Health Acute Inpatient Unit | South West VIC

  • Role Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday (business hours)
  • Contract: 3-month fixed term
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Unit: Mental Health Acute Inpatient Unit (MHAIU)

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading and supporting a multidisciplinary team in a busy acute mental health inpatient environment
  • Managing clinical operations, staffing, and service delivery
  • Ensuring high standards of safety, risk management, and recovery-focused care
  • Supporting staff supervision, professional development, and performance management
  • Driving quality improvement initiatives and maintaining compliance with legislation, including the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022
  • Collaborating with senior clinicians and stakeholders to enhance patient care and service integration

What We’re Looking For

  • AHPRA-registered Registered Nurse with a mental health qualification
  • Postgraduate Diploma or Masters in Mental Health Nursing (or specialist MH undergraduate program)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mental health services
  • Proven leadership and management experience in an acute mental health setting
  • Strong communication, clinical governance, and problem-solving skills
  • Victorian NUM or senior leadership experience in an MH inpatient unit (highly regarded)
